Hi Jenni, Michael has got it right. PDF/A, if B compliant in a nutshell only requires that the reproduced PDF/A file be a true visual reflection of the original. Hence, if you say, you do not want to OCR, you can safely go ahead with B compliance...

Caught in the Generation Gap War!

Everyday I face a challenge many other more erstwhile ECM advocates also encounter - the Magical expectations from an ECM solution. Everyday, I try and educate that ECM is neither a technological wand nor is it the blessed and fabled 'Harry Potter' that allows it to annihilate the Voldemort called 'Information Chaos'. Everyday, I return back to the same expectations and offer the same explanations.

8 Perspectives in ECM Projects That Can Make Me See Double

Every time I am deeply immersed in an ECM project, I wind up cross-eyed. That is because there are so many competing and often inconsistent perspectives that must be incorporated into the project.

Troublesome Threesome II

This time the fiasco occurred in an autonomous Trade Zone. Their requirement was to archive the registration records of the companies trading in their zone and also the Visa records of the employees with those companies. Each file contained various records, but the need from the client was to archive them as one multi-page PDF/A file.

Troublesome Threesome I

I first considered putting up a list on How-to-Archive or yet another one on Points-to-consider-to-Archive. But, there is plenty of much better and more mature information out there. Hence, after a long hard thought, I decided to showcase three different archiving disaster cases I encountered in my experience.

Here goes…

Down the Drain… (almost)

What seemed like a normal outsourced archiving exercise for the Drainage Department for a local municipality became a nightmare. The job was s… Continue
